SAME DAY. NIGHT.
At Java Underground, Iva is sitting at a table. She is drinking coffee and playing on her phone. Lily enters. She looks around and spots Iva. She then goes to her.
LILY: Good evening, Iva.
IVA: (looking up) It was a good evening, till I saw you.
---
At the LakeView, in Diana’s suite, Grant enters in a hurry. Diana shuts the door quickly and turns around. She goes to Grant.
DIANA: Alright. Do you have the pills.
GRANT: Yes. I have the pills.
Grant hands Diana a small baggie of pills.
DIANA: So, only two will do the job?
GRANT: Oh yeah. You put those two pills in a drink of Steve’s, and he won’t know what hit him. Have fun tonight, Diana.
DIANA: Oh, I intend to.
---
At the Mona Lisa, Craig is sitting at the bar area. He is having a glass of scotch. Betsy enters and goes up to him.
BETSY: Craig Montgomery, just the man I wanted to see.
CRAIG: Hello, Betsy. What can I do for you?
BETSY: You can tell me why you’ve been meeting with Diana.
---
---
At Casey and Alison’s Apartment, in the kitchen, Alison is pouring herself a cup of coffee. Then, Casey enters. He goes to the fridge and grabs a bottle of water.
CASEY: Little late for coffee, don’t you think?
ALISON: Never too late for coffee. Plus, I have to stay up. I have so much to do with the case. Our first day in court is tomorrow. I just want to cover all of my bases.
CASEY: Honey, you need to calm down. Just take a breather. I know for a fact that everything is covered, where this case is concerned. Just come to bed.
ALISON: Before I come to bed, I need to ask you a question.
CASEY: Okay. Go ahead. Ask me anything.
ALISON: So, you’re very sure that we’ve covered everything with the case. But, are you sure that we’ll win this thing?
---
In Oakdale Park, Valerie is sitting down on a bench. She has a pharmacy bag right beside her. She is cleaning her wound and bandaging her hand. Then, Susan walks up to her.
SUSAN: Mind if I take a look at that?
Valerie jumps up.
SUSAN: Sorry. I didn’t mean to frighten you.
VALERIE: No. It’s fine. Sometimes I get jumpy.
SUSAN: I hope you don’t mind, but I followed you here. At the Mona Lisa, post wine glass dropping, I just saw your wound from afar. It looked pretty bad. Looked like it hurt.
VALERIE: It does look bad. And, yeah. It does hurt.
SUSAN: Well, I am a doctor. I could look at that for you.
VALERIE: I don’t think that would be such a good idea.
SUSAN: It will only take a second. Please. Let me look.
VALERIE: (sighs/sitting) Knock yourself out.
---
Back at Java Underground, Lily sits across from Iva. Iva drops her phone into her purse. Lily sets her purse on the back of her chair.
LILY: Iva, I don’t need much of your time. I would just like to talk with you. Please....please listen to me. I’m begging you.
IVA: That seems to be that name-of-the-game these days. Everyone seems to be begging for attention from me. In fact, Diego did it yesterday.
LILY: He did?
IVA: Yup. He came to see me. Wanted to apologize.
LILY: I can understand why you wouldn’t accept his apology. Or, even hear him out. But, I hope that you do the opposite for me. On both accounts that is.
IVA: Lily…, can I tell you a secret?
LILY: Of course. Go right ahead.
IVA: I’m done. I am so done with apologies. And, I don’t care what you, Diego, or anyone else has to say to me. You can beg for my attention all you want. However, I am not going to pay attention to you. (standing/collecting things) So, you can take that fake and meaningless apology and shove it where the sun don’t shine.
Iva then walks off. Lily lets out a sigh.
---
Back at Casey and Alison’s Apartment, Alison pours herself another cup of coffee. Then, her and Casey walk into the living room.
CASEY: Alison, there is no telling how the judge is going to rule. But, I think he’ll rule in our favor. We know that Sandra confessed to us, so does a hospital lawyer.
ALISON: It isn’t like we have that on tape or something.
CASEY: I think your nerves are shot. I think you need a glass of wine, a bath, and a comfy bed to sleep in. You deserve it. You really do.
ALISON: I just wish I had the time for it all.
CASEY: How about I help you make the time?
ALISON: What do you mean?
CASEY: You go get a hot bath, and I will look back over the case files. I want to put you at ease. So, go ahead. Go on.
ALISON: You are the best husband ever.
Alison puts the mug down. She throws her arms around Casey and kisses him. She then walks off to the bathroom.
---
Back in Oakdale Park, Susan and Valerie are both sitting on the bench. Susan is rewrapping Valerie’s hand with gauze.
SUSAN: There you go. Now, your hand is wrapped properly.
Susan puts all the trash in the pharmacy bag.
SUSAN: Now that, that is settled, I would like to know something about you. How about you tell me your name?
VALERIE: My name is Valerie Peterson.
SUSAN: Well, nice to meet you, Valerie. I’m Susan Burke.
VALERIE: Nice to meet you, Susan.
SUSAN: So, tell me, what brings you to town?
VALERIE: I just came to visit someone. But, something tells me that I have to stick around. Something tells me that I have a lot to explore life here in Oakdale.
SUSAN: (smiling) Well, it is a great place to live. Such a caring and loving community. I think you will really like it here. I have no doubt about that. No doubt at all.
---
Back at the Mona Lisa, Craig finishes his scotch.
CRAIG: Betsy, I don’t owe you any explanations.
BETSY: Don’t do that. I know that you’ve been meeting with her. I drove by your home one day...I was in the neighborhood...and I saw her. I already know, Craig. Just fill me in on what is going on.
CRAIG: I can’t tell you that.
BETSY: And, why not? What is going on?
CRAIG: It’s none of your damn business.
BETSY: Look, I didn’t mean to rub you the wrong way. I just want everyone to be so damn careful. Something is not right with her. I highly doubt that she only returned to town because of this Grant thing. Something odd is going on. And, I am going to find out what that something is.
---
Back at the LakeView, in Diana’s suite, Diana comes out of the bathroom. She is in a tight black dress. She then goes over to her jewelry box. She opens it and picks out a diamond necklace. She puts it on. She then grabs a hand bag. She sticks her phone in it. She then picks up the pills.
DIANA: It’s gonna be a wild night. Here goes nothing.
Diana puts the pulls in her purse. She closes her small purse. The camera zooms in on Diana’s smiling face.
