SAME DAY. NIGHT.

At Katie’s Apartment, as Katie enters the Living Room, there is a knock at the door. She walks right over to the door.

KATIE: (opening the door) Wow. This is unexpected.

BARBARA: Hello, Katie.

KATIE: What are you doing here, Barbara?

BARBARA: I needed to talk to you.

KATIE: About what?

BARBARA: I think it is time I apologize to you.

KATIE: You apologizing? Are you feeling okay?
---

At Java Underground, Valerie walks up to the front counter. She has a two pieces of paper in her hand. She hands them both to a Barista.

VALERIE: Alright. There you are. You now have my resume and my application. Thanks again for letting me fill an application out.

BARISTA: Of course. And, we’ll be in touch.

VALERIE: Alright. Thanks.

As Valerie turns around, she begins to walk to the door. But, then, she stops. At a corner table is Lucinda. Lucinda is having a cup of coffee. Valerie stares straight on at her. It appears that Valerie is now short of breath.
---

At Craig’s Home, in the Living Room, Craig enters the room. As he does this, there is a loud banging at his door. Craig walks over to the door.

CRAIG: (opening the door) Diana, what are you doing here so late?

DIANA: How could you do this to me, Craig?

CRAIG: What did I do?

DIANA: You know what! You exposed our plan! And, now, my whole world is crumbling around me! And, it is all because of you!
---
---

At Tom and Margo’s Home, in the Living Room, Tom is pacing around the room. He is also on his cell phone.

TOM: (over the phone) Are the police sure it was him? Alright, thank you for calling me. No, it is not too late here. Again, thank you. Alright. Bye, Carol.

As Tom hangs up his phone, Margo enters.

MARGO: Who was that?

Tom stops pacing and turns around to face Margo.

TOM: It was a lady calling about an old friend of mine.

MARGO: Oh? Is everything okay?

TOM: Uh...no.

MARGO: Tom, what’s going on?

TOM: This old friend of mine has passed away. And, because of his passing, it is bringing up a lot of old memories.

MARGO: Good or bad?

TOM: Bad.

MARGO: What did this old friend of yours pass from?

TOM: A drug overdose.
---

At Dusty’s Home, in the Living Room, Dusty and Rosanna are sitting on the couch. The two are holding one another’s hands.

DUSTY: You can do it, honey. Just tell me what is going on.

ROSANNA: (getting choked up) I...I...I...I have a brain tumor, Dusty.

DUSTY: Oh my god. You have a brain tumor?

ROSANNA: Yes.

DUSTY: When were you diagnosed?

ROSANNA: Not too long ago.

DUSTY: What did the doctor say? What is the course of action when it comes to fighting this thing? What do we need to do to save your life?

ROSANNA: My doctor has put me on a couple of medications to hopefully shrink the tumor. If we can shrink the tumor, then it will be easier to extract during a surgery.

DUSTY: Okay. That sounds easy to do. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. We can...we can...do that. Yeah. We can do that. No trouble at all.

ROSANNA: Dusty?

DUSTY: Yeah?

ROSANNA: You’re rambling, honey.

DUSTY: Sorry. I’m just scared and worried for you.

ROSANNA: I know. I’m scared and worried too.

Dusty and Rosanna hug one another tightly.
---

Back at Java Underground, Valerie is still staring straight on at Lucinda. Lucinda eventually sees her and goes to her.

LUCINDA: Miss, I saw you staring over at my table. Can I help you?

VALERIE: Oh...I...I was just admiring your broach.

LUCINDA: Thank you.

VALERIE: Uh...where’d you get it?

LUCINDA: A department store downtown.

VALERIE: Nice. Well, that was all. Have a good night.

LUCINDA: Yeah. You too.

Valerie rushes out of the coffee house. Outside, Valerie lets out a huge breath. She then walks off into the night.
---

Back at Tom and Margo’s Home, in the Kitchen, Tom is sitting down at the kitchen table. Margo comes up behind him and sets a cup of tea in front of him. She then goes to the other side of the table and sits.

TOM: Thank you for the cup of tea, darling.

MARGO: Of course. Why don’t you tell me more about this old friend.

TOM: (sighs) His name was Hank Barton. He was a boarding school roommate of mine. He was never liked by anyone in my family.

MARGO: Why is that?

TOM: He was a bad influence.

MARGO: Was that because of the drugs?

TOM: You bet. I remember when he convinced me to help him rob his father’s pharmacy. That was a huge mistake. That lead to more consequences than I could have foresaw.

MARGO: Look, I am so glad that you got out of that life. I am so glad that you survived that life. Hank was a troubled soul. And, some people don’t survive that rabbit hole they’ve lead themselves down.

TOM: That’s very true.

MARGO: Do you want to go to the funeral?

TOM: I think that I should.

MARGO: (rubbing Tom’s arm) Then, we will go together.

Margo then leans her head on Tom’s shoulder. Tom leans his head on top of Margo’s. The camera pans out.
---

Back at Dusty’s Home, in the Living Room, Dusty is laying down on the couch. Rosanna is curled up beside him.

ROSANNA: I think that I should give Carly a call.

DUSTY: Don’t worry about that. We can do all of that tomorrow.

ROSANNA: Yeah. I think that you’re right.

DUSTY: How are you doing? Does your head hurt? Can I give you anything?

ROSANNA: I’m fine. I am truly fine.

DUSTY: How are you doing with this whole thing in general?

ROSANNA: Like I said, I am scared and worried. I don’t know what the next day is going to hold. I don’t know what this tumor is going to do to my body long term. I don’t know what toll it will have on me. (looking up at Dusty) I’m scared.

DUSTY: Don’t be afraid. I am going to march into this battle with you. You are not in this thing alone. You will have me by your side every step of the way.

ROSANNA: Do you promise?

DUSTY: Of course I promise.

Dusty kisses Rosanna on the forehead. Rosanna then goes back to laying on Dusty’s chest. She then lightly smiles.
---

Back at Katie’s Apartment, in the Living Room, Barbara is sitting on the couch. Katie enters the room with two glasses of red wine. She hands one to Barbara.

BARBARA: Thank you.

KATIE: Of course.

Katie then sits in a chair by the couch.

KATIE: So, tell me all about this supposed apology.

BARBARA: I feel bad for how I have treated you these past few months. I feel absolutely horrible about the disgusting things I said to you.

KATIE: Wow. You almost sound sincere.

BARBARA: I’m trying to be.

KATIE: What brought this on?

BARBARA: I believe that Henry and I are going into a new era of our relationship. In this new era, I don’t want anything standing in our way. That includes my grudges that I hold against the wrong people. I had no right to be a bitch towards you. I’m sorry. Can you accept my apology, Katie?

KATIE: I can, Barbara. I can forgive you.

BARBARA: (smiling) Thank you, Katie. Thank you very much.

Then, Katie’s home phone rings.

KATIE: Will you excuse me?

BARBARA: Of course.

Katie sets her wine glass down and goes to the phone.

KATIE: (answering the call) Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? Hello?

After awhile of no answer on the other line, Katie hangs up.

BARBARA: Who was that?

KATIE: I have absolutely no idea.
---

Back at Craig’s Home, in the Living Room, Diana brushes pass Craig. Craig then shuts the door and turns around. He then walks up to her.

DIANA: I thought that we were in this thing together. I thought that we were going to have all that we wanted. Why did you expose this plan? Why did you blow this whole thing sky high, Craig?

CRAIG: I couldn’t hurt Betsy like that. I knew that it was wrong. I couldn’t just sit back and know that you were drugging a man a couple of blocks away from where I was having a drink.

DIANA: You’ve been on the dark side so many times. What changed?

CRAIG: I plan to turn over a new leaf.

DIANA: (laughs) You just keep lying.

CRAIG: Diana, I did not want to go along with this any longer. I saw the horrific look on Betsy’s face when I told her the truth. That horrific expression on her face was like taking a knife to the heart.

DIANA: You’re gonna regret this, Craig.

CRAIG: What is that supposed to mean?

DIANA: I don’t exactly take betrayal lightly. You should know that.

Diana then collects herself and barges out of the home. She slams the door behind her. The camera zooms in on Craig’s face.
