SAME DAY. NIGHT.
At the Hughes Home, Don Hastings is sitting on the couch.
DON: Hello. My name is Don Hastings. But, you know me as Bob Hughes. I joined the show in the year of 1960. Two other actors had played the role before, but none of them had staying power. One day I heard that auditions were being held for this doctor role on a soap opera. I had never watched soap operas before, but I wanted something new. So, I auditioned in front of Irna, and here I am today. And, I am happy to be here, today. When I look back, I think, “wow, we’ve been on for 60 years.” It has been amazing ride. And, now, join us for the continuation of the 60th anniversary of As The World Turns.

At the Lakeview, in the ballroom, everyone is enjoying themselves at the Nancy and Christopher wedding tribute party.
Pearl comes off from hugging Frannie.
PEARL: I am just so delighted to be here.
BOB: I’m happy that you are here too, aunt Pearl.
KIM: We haven’t seen you in so long. So, it is nice that you decided to come. I’ve missed you very much, Pearl.
PEARL: I’ve missed you too, Kim. Frannie, Sabrina, how have you two been? I’ve heard about your works in Haiti.
FRANNIE: Oh, yes. We’ve done much work there. It is all about helping people that are less fortunate. Grandma always taught us that.
SABRINA: I just wish that she would be here, along with grandpa, to see the work that we have accomplished.
PEARL: So, how long will you two be staying?
BOB: I would like to know that, too.
KIM: Same here.
Frannie and Sabrina look at each other.
FRANNIE: (sighs) Funny you should ask.
---
In Oakdale Park, Carly is standing by a bench. She puts her cell phone in her evening bag, and lets out a sigh.
CARLY: Where are you?
Then, Craig walks up to Carly.
CARLY: Finally, where have you been?
CRAIG: I had a little treat at my doorstep to deal with. Your sister, Rosanna, and my ex-wife Sierra, decided to drop by.
CARLY: What?
CRAIG: Long story. Anyways, why’d you call me?
CARLY: We need to have a little chat about secrecy.
---
On a road, outside of Oakdale, Margo’s car pulls into a driveway.
BETSY: We’re here.
BARBARA: Let’s go rescue…
EMILY: Paul.
MARGO: Let’s do it.
Margo turns off the car. Margo, Betsy, Barbara, Emily, Margo, and other police officers step outside their vehicles. Margo walks up to a police officer.
MARGO: On my count, we go into the warehouse. There’s a door on the side. We can kick it open. Do you understand?
OFFICER: Yes, commissioner.
MARGO: Excellent.
---
Inside the Abandoned Warehouse, Paul and Diego are standing, face to face.
PAUL: I just heard sirens.
DIEGO: I did too.
PAUL: Give it up, Diego. You’ve ran this long. Just let the law run its course.
DIEGO: Or I could escape.
PAUL: There’s only one way out. And, it is through police.
DIEGO: Oh, Paul. That is where you are wrong. See, I will not be prosecuted.
PAUL: What are you talking about?
DIEGO: The statute of limitations on my crimes are done. And, they can’t prosecute me with my crimes in Guadalajara, because there is no extradition treaty. Plus, I hid it so well, that there are only two witnesses. One is in prison. The other…, well they won’t believe just one. See, I get away with everything.
---
Back at the Lakeview, in the ballroom, Lisa and Ellen are sitting at a table.
LISA: I’m so glad you could join us, Ellen.
ELLEN: Oh, it was my pleasure. I am so happy to be back in Oakdale.
LISA: That’s wonderful. So, have you shared your news with anyone else?
ELLEN: Oh, Lisa, I don’t want anyone else knowing.
LISA: Ellen, tonight might be your only chance to say goodbye.
ELLEN: I know. But, I don’t want to ruin the party.
LISA: You wouldn’t ruin the party.
ELLEN: Telling people that (coughs) you are dying, ruins a party.
LISA: Can I get you anything?
ELLEN: A hug.
Ellen and Lisa hug.
ACROSS THE BALLROOM:
Gwen and Alison come off of a hug.
ALISON: It is so cool that you guys are staying here, for good.
GWEN: (sighs) We are happy to be back.
WILL: We just wanted Hallie to have a good education.
HALLIE: (sarcastic) Education. Woo-hoo. I love it.
CASEY: She reminds me of me, when it came to school.
ALISON: (laughs) Minus the parties.
WILL: Let’s keep it that way.
GWEN: I hear that. Hey, honey why don’t you go say hi to some other people. Make yourself at home with them. They haven’t seen you in years.
HALLIE: Okay.
Hallie walks off.
GWEN: (sighs) They grow up too fast.
ALISON: We might know that feeling, soon.
WILL: What are you talking about?
CASEY: Do you wanna tell them.
ALISON: Yeah.
WILL: Tell us what?
ALISON: We’re gonna have a baby.
---
Back in Oakdale Park, Carly sits on the bench with Craig.
CRAIG: Carly, I can keep this secret. You were drunk. It was a mistake.
CARLY: That just might be the most noble thing you have ever said. But, then again, I have a very hard time believing you.
CRAIG: Why is that, Carly?
CARLY: Really Craig? You live to tell lies.
CRAIG: Carly, any lie I’ve told from my past, I can match it with one from your’s.
CARLY: Oh, you think so?
CRAIG: I know so. Listen, I already broke Rosanna’s heart. I don’t want to keep doing that. If anything, I want to get back with Rosanna.
CARLY: Oh really?
CRAIG: Yes.
CARLY: Sleeping with me…, kissing Betsy.
CRAIG: How did you know about that?
CARLY: I was on my way to talk to you about Rosanna. I was about to knock on your door, when I saw you kissing Betsy through the window.
CRAIG: That was a knee jerk reaction.
CARLY: (standing) I gotta get back to the party. Keep the secret. I think we are both in an agreement, now. Goodbye, Craig.
Carly walks off.
---
Back at the Lakeview, in the ballroom, Kim takes a sip of her water.
KIM: Funny we should ask?
BOB: Now I’m curious.
PEARL: (chuckles) I am too.
FRANNIE: Well, only one of us will be staying.
KIM: Oh, I wish both of you could.
FRANNIE: Well, people need us.
BOB: Yes, they do.
PEARL: I’m so proud of you girls.
BOB: So, which one of you is staying?
SABRINA: I am.
PEARL: Well, at least one of you can stay.
KIM: It warms my heart to know that one of you can live here, with your family. I love you both so much. And, even though, only one of you is staying, both of you are here tonight.
BOB: And, that is what truly matters.
PEARL: I think a group hug is in order.
KIM: I think so too.
Kim, Bob, Pearl, Frannie, and Sabrina group hug.
OUTSIDE THE BALLROOM:
Gwen, Will, and Hallie are standing on the balcony.
GWEN: What a beautiful evening this has been.
WILL: It really has been something special.
HALLIE: It was cool to see everyone.
WILL: I just wish my mom were here. Susan told me she is on some official business. God only knows what that means.
GWEN: Probably some corporate take-over, in true Barbara fashion.
HALLIE: I can’t wait to see her.
WILL: Same here, baby girl. Same here.
---
Outside of the Warehouse, police officers have their guns out, ready to fire. Margo does as well. Emily, Barbara, and Betsy are standing off to the side, for their protection. Barbara walks up to Margo.
BARBARA: Margo, what the hell is taking so long?
MARGO: We need to time this all, just right.
BARBARA: Well, you better speed that time up.
BACK TO EMILY AND BETSY:
BETSY: What do you think Barbara is telling Margo?
EMILY: Probably just demanding something impossible.
Just as Betsy and Emily finish talking, the side door opens on the warehouse. Everyone turns their attention to the person.
MARGO: We have the place surrounded. Put your hands up where I can see them.
Paul and Diego come out of the shadows.
BETSY: Oh my god. It is him. That is César.
EMILY: No, this can’t be!
BETSY: Emily, what?
EMILY: That isn’t who you think it is.
BETSY: What do you mean?
Margo and the officers go for Paul and Diego.
BETSY: Emily, tell me.
EMILY: That is Diego Santana.
BETSY: Who?
EMILY: Diego Santana! That is him! That is the man who raped me!
(FLASHBACK)
(FLASHBACK ENDS)
In rage, Emily runs for a gun. She pushes everyone out of the way, and shoots Diego!
